since 2005 / kraftwerk klavier

previousnext

Thilo Schölpen plays his arrangement of the music of Kraftwerk, the pioneers of electronic music, on the piano. Between minimalist rigor and romantic soundscapes he creates piano miniatures that are reminiscent of Bela Bartok, Erik Satie and Steve Reich. The cool melodies and rhythms of the Kraftwerk’s music turn out to be the perfect material for interpretations that feel equally at home to an audience soaked in pop culture as well as one from a classical concert situation. Programmed synthesizer sequences turn into lively ostinato figures that offer scope for improvisation, and popular songs become timeless piano music. His concert tours have taken him to London, Athens, Saragossa, Milan, New York
